Coaches: packages, payments and earnings
How coaches sell coaching and digital products, get paid, and handle client billing. Available on Pro and Studio, for Owners and Admins.
How payments work
-
Clients pay the coach, not Straton. The coach is the seller and the merchant of record.
-
Payments run through the coach’s own Stripe account, connected to Straton.
-
Stripe handles card processing, identity checks and payouts to the coach’s bank.
-
Straton takes a platform fee from each payment:
Plan Platform fee Pro 1.5% Studio 0% Stripe’s own processing fee applies on top, on every plan.
-
A recurring client subscription keeps the fee that applied when it started. Changing plan affects new sales.
-
Coaches are responsible for their own pricing, refunds, taxes and disputes with clients.
Connecting Stripe
- Go to Integrations.
- On the Stripe card, click Connect Stripe.
- Choose the country where your business is registered. This cannot be changed later.
- Click Continue to Stripe and complete Stripe’s setup.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not connected | No Stripe account yet |
| Onboarding | Setup started but not finished. Click Resume onboarding |
| Action required | Stripe needs more information from you |
| Connected | Ready to take payments |
- “Stripe doesn’t support that country yet” means Stripe cannot open an account there, so payments are not available for that business.
- The card menu has Refresh status, Open Stripe and Disconnect Stripe.
- If the fee shown on the Stripe card looks different from the table above, the table is what applies at checkout.
Disconnecting Stripe
- Cancel every active client subscription first, from each client’s Payments tab. Otherwise the dialog shows “Active subscriptions found”.
- Disconnecting archives all coaching packages and deletes the Stripe account that was created for Straton. This cannot be undone.
- Refund any past charges you need to before disconnecting.

- Archive hides the package and stops new purchases. Existing subscriptions continue.
- Pricing is locked once a package has active subscribers. To change the price, archive the package and create a new one.
What buyers see
The package page shows your branding, description, benefits, price, any trial or initial fee, and how many spots are left.
- If the package belongs to a published Client Onboarding, the button reads Get started now and the buyer answers your questions first. Payment comes at the end.
- Otherwise the buyer enters their name, email and an optional coupon code, then Continue to Stripe.
Messages a buyer may see:

Coupons
Products > Coupons > New coupon.
| Field | Rules |
|---|---|
| Name | Up to 120 characters |
| Code | 2 to 40 characters. Letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. Or click Generate code |
| Discount | Percentage (1 to 100) or a fixed amount in a chosen currency |

- A 100% coupon makes checkout free, with no card needed.
- A fixed-amount coupon only works on packages in the same currency.
- Coupons cannot be deleted. Switch them off with the Active toggle.
- Coupons apply to coaching packages, not digital products.
Digital products
Products > Digital sells files as a one-time purchase, for example a PDF program or a guide.
- Upload the files to Resources first.
- Click New digital product.
- Add a name, public URL, description, cover image, price, what’s included, and select 1 to 20 files.
- Publish it.
After paying, the buyer sees their downloads and is emailed a secure access link so they can come back later. Buyers do not need a Straton account.
The Sales list for each product shows buyers and lets you resend the access email, send a new access link or revoke access. Refunded or disputed purchases lose access. Archiving a product stops new sales, and existing buyers keep their downloads.
A client’s billing
Open a client’s Payments tab to see their current subscription, subscription history and payment history.
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Cancel at period end | The subscription stops at the end of the paid period |
| Cancel now | The subscription stops immediately |
| Invoice | Opens the receipt |
| Refund | Refunds a fixed amount or a percentage of a payment, through Stripe |
Refunding a payment does not cancel the subscription or change the client’s access.
When a client’s payment fails
- You get a notification and an email: “Client payment failed” or “Client payment needs attention”.
- Stripe retries the payment on its own schedule.
- The client keeps their app access and content. Straton does not lock a client out. What happens next is the coach’s decision.
When a subscription is cancelled you get “Client subscription canceled”. The client’s access stays the same until the coach changes it.
Refunds and disputes
Refunds for coaching are decided by the coach, under the coach’s own refund policy. Straton support cannot refund a client’s payment to a coach. Disputes and chargebacks are handled between the coach and Stripe.
Earnings
Earnings shows:
- Total revenue, net of refunds.
- Monthly recurring revenue from active and trialing subscriptions.
- Active subscriptions.
- One-time sales.
- Recent purchases: the 200 most recent, with buyer, product, status and amount.
Sync with Stripe re-checks pending checkouts and invoices if something looks out of date.
Payout dates, your balance and per-transaction fees are in Stripe. Click Stripe or Open Stripe to open your Stripe dashboard.
Totals are shown in your Stripe account’s default currency. If you sell in more than one currency, rely on Stripe’s reports for accurate totals.
Taxes
Coaches are responsible for any sales tax, VAT or income tax on what they sell, and for their own invoices to clients. Straton does not calculate or file tax on client payments.
Common questions
Products isn’t in my sidebar. It needs Pro or Studio and an Owner or Admin role.
When do I get paid? Payouts are made by Stripe to your bank on Stripe’s schedule. Check your Stripe dashboard.
A client wants to cancel. The client can do it themselves from Profile > Billing > Manage in Stripe in the app, or you can cancel from their Payments tab.
A client wants a refund. Refund the payment from the client’s Payments tab. This is the coach’s decision.
Can I offer monthly and yearly prices on one package? One price per package. Create a second package for the other option.
Can I move an existing subscriber to a new price? Cancel their current subscription and have them buy the new package.
