iOS app: nutrition and food logging
Where the plan comes from
| You are | Your nutrition plan |
|---|---|
| An individual | Built by Straton from your setup answers, then adjusted over time. See How your plan adapts |
| A coach client | Created and set active by your coach |
If the Nutrition tab shows “No plan yet”, no plan is active for you. Coach clients should ask their coach to assign a plan and set it active.
The Nutrition tab
- Calorie card: eaten so far, your target, calories left, and protein, carbs and fat.
- Today’s plan: each meal with its target. A meal may offer several options.
- View plan: the full plan with daily targets and every meal. This page is read-only.
- Logged today: what you have logged.
- View previous logs: your log history.
Logging a planned meal
- Tap a meal under Today’s plan.
- Choose an option if there is more than one.
- Adjust portions or add foods if you ate something different.
- Save.
Logging something else
- Tap Log New at the top right.
- Use the tabs:
- Search: search the food library. Popular foods are listed before you type.
- Recipes: your saved recipes.
- Custom: foods you created.
- Tap foods to select them. Tap into a food to set the portion and unit.
- Tap Add food.
The meal is filed by time of day:
| Time | Meal |
|---|---|
| 4:00 to 11:00 | Breakfast |
| 11:00 to 15:00 | Lunch |
| 15:00 to 18:00 | Snack |
| Any other time | Dinner |
Custom foods
In the Custom tab, create a food with a name, serving weight, calories, protein, fat and carbs. You can add a photo. Swipe left on a custom food to edit or delete it.
Recipes
In the Recipes tab, create a recipe with a name, number of servings and ingredients. Macros per serving are calculated for you. Swipe left to edit or delete.
Deleting a custom food or recipe does not change meals you already logged.
What is not available
- Scanning barcodes.
- Logging by taking a photo of your food.
- Quick-adding calories without choosing a food.
- A water tracker. Water may appear as a habit instead.
- Editing or deleting a meal after it is logged.
- Changing your calorie or macro targets yourself. For individuals, Straton adjusts them over time. For coach clients, the coach sets them.
For coach clients
Your coach can see what you log, along with calorie and macro adherence. Foods and recipes you create are visible to your coach too.
For individuals
Logging food needs an active subscription. Logging on most days is what lets Straton fine-tune your calorie target.
Common questions
I logged a meal by mistake. A logged meal cannot be removed in the app at the moment. Coach clients can let their coach know. Individuals can contact support if it matters for their targets.
I can’t find a food. Try a simpler search term, or create it as a custom food.
“Those foods can’t be logged yet.” One of the selected foods is missing nutrition details. Pick a different entry or create a custom food.
My targets changed. Individuals: Straton adjusted them based on your logged food and weigh-ins. Coach clients: your coach updated your plan.
The meal went into the wrong slot. The meal is assigned by the time you log it. Log planned meals from Today’s plan to put them in the right slot.
