iOS app: check-ins, intakes and progress

What they are

  • A check-in is a regular update on how things are going: a few questions, body measurements and sometimes photos.
  • An intake is a one-off questionnaire, usually when you start with a coach.
You are Your check-ins
A coach client Sent by your coach, on the schedule your coach chooses. Your coach reads them and can leave feedback
An individual Sent weekly by Straton and used to adjust your plan. See How your plan adapts

Finding a check-in

  • A card appears on Home when one is waiting, showing when it is due.
  • Profile > Check-ins lists everything:
    • Needs action: Available, In Progress and Overdue. Scheduled ones are listed but cannot be opened until they open.
    • Past: Submitted, Reviewed and Skipped.

Coach clients are not sent a notification when a check-in opens or becomes overdue. Look at Home or the Check-ins list. Individuals get a notification when their weekly check-in is ready.

Filling one in

A check-in is one scrolling page. It may include:

  1. Body metrics: weight, body fat, waist, hips, chest, arms and thighs. All optional. Units follow Profile > Units.
  2. Progress photos: Front, Side, Back and Extra. Tap a slot, then Take Photo or Choose from Library.
  3. Questions. Required ones are marked with a red asterisk.

Then tap Submit check-in or Submit intake.

  • Close saves a draft. The draft is also saved if you leave the app.
  • “Answer the required questions before sending this.” means a required question is empty. It is highlighted.
  • A question that says “Answer this one in the web app.” cannot be answered in this version of the app. Update the app, and if it remains, contact your coach or support.

The first time photos are requested you are asked to Allow progress photos. Photos are stored privately. For coach clients, only the coaching team can open them.

Photos are optional. You can send the check-in without them. You can withdraw photo consent later in Profile > Privacy and data.

After you submit

  • You can still correct a submitted check-in until it is reviewed.
  • Once reviewed it is locked.
  • Coach clients: when your coach reviews it, open it under Profile > Check-ins > Past to read their feedback in the card “From your coach”.
  • Individuals: you get “Your week, reviewed” with a note on what changes next week.

Progress

Profile > Progress (or the Body card on Home) shows your trends for 30 days, 90 days or all time:

Section Source
Weight and body fat Your check-ins
Measurements Your check-ins
Progress photos Your check-ins. Previous shows earlier sets
Wellness (sleep, energy, mood) Your check-in answers
Adherence Workouts, nutrition and habits completed against what was planned
Training Sessions completed and missed, streaks, weekly volume, average effort
Volume by muscle Your logged workouts
Training history Every logged workout

Body weight, measurements and photos are entered through check-ins. There is no separate screen for logging weight on its own.

Personal records

A PR badge and sound appear on the workout summary when you set a record. Trains > Top exercises shows your heaviest set, best session volume and records by rep count for each exercise.

Common questions

I have no check-in. Coach clients: your coach has not sent one, or it is scheduled and not open yet. Individuals: you need at least two logged workouts in the last seven days, and it arrives on your last training day of the week.

My photos won’t upload. Check your connection and try again. Photos upload when you submit. Also check that progress photos are allowed in Profile > Privacy and data.

Can I delete a photo or measurement I sent? Not from the app. Coach clients should ask their coach. Otherwise contact support.

My Progress screen is empty. It fills in after your first logged workout or submitted check-in.

My weight in Apple Health doesn’t show in Progress. Progress uses the weight from your check-ins, not Apple Health.

“Couldn’t send that. Try again.” Usually a connection problem. Your answers are kept as a draft. Try again on a stable connection.
